MAYFIELD, Ky. (AP) -- A former public school teacher in western Kentucky won't go to prison on his conviction for videotaping up cheerleaders' skirts.

The Paducah Sun reported Steve McCuiston of Murray received five years' probation at his sentencing on Tuesday in Mayfield.

McCuiston pleaded guilty to two felony charges -- eavesdropping and tampering with evidence.

Commonwealth Attorney David Hargrove said he dropped a voyeurism charge against McCuiston, who is 52, after realizing it didn't apply.

Circuit Judge Tim Stark described as reprehensible McCuiston's shooting of video by aiming his camera upward while under the bleachers at Mayfield High School.

McCuiston's attorney, Gary Haverstock, said his client will never teach again, having pleaded guilty to two felonies and his teaching license having expired.
