TAYLORSVILLE, Ky. (AP) -- Residents in a central Kentucky county and one Jefferson County precinct have voted to allow alcohol sales.

Spencer County voters decided Tuesday by 2,767 to 1,928 votes to allow alcohol sales.

Supporters say they expect an economic boost with more restaurants, stronger local businesses and more tourism. But pastor Patrick Nix of Lighthouse Baptist Church told The Courier-Journal he fears what impact alcohol sales will have on the community.

In Eastwood, in eastern Jefferson County, residents voted 288 to 82 in favor of legal alcohol sales. Supporters hope the vote will bring a grocery store and restaurant to the community, which now has neither.
