Warren County residents will get a chance to speak out about new insurance premium taxes throughout the weekend of Friday, March 16, 2007.
The Warren County Fiscal Court unanimously approved the first reading of an ordinance to start charging an insurance premium tax.
The tax would be used to off-set an expected $3 million shortfall in the county budget.
Magistrates will be available to listen to public opinion on the new tax and other alternatives tomorrow from 12-6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday from 1-3 p.m.
The meetings will be held in the fiscal courtroom in the old Warren County Courthouse.
The second reading of the insurance premium tax is scheduled for Monday morning at 9 a.m. If approved, the tax will take effect on July 1, 2007.
