The Lady Trojanettes' Ride Ends at the Quarter-Finals

The Barren County girls' basketball team is still feeling the excitement of playing in the state quarter-finals.

The girls were up against the Assumption Rockets from Louisville, Ky., and although the road to the championship game ends at the quarter-finals for the Trojanettes they'll always remember the ride.

WBKO's Sarah Goebel explains why it's especially memorable for seniors.

"It's this group of girls that's special. It's a large senior class. They were at the state championships when they were freshman and they get to do it again as seniors," said Bob Blair, Barren County High School athletic director.

The Trojanettes knew they had a reputation to live up to. The Barren County girls have made it to the state championship five times before.

"Just to be able to make it here for two times and to feel this atmosphere is something you'll never forget," said Bethany Spillman, Barren County Trojannette senior player. "This is every seniors dream."

The ladies got to live it out to the fullest, and their entire county is beaming.

"I'm so proud of where they're at right now," parent JoAnne Thomas said.

"It's a can do attitude; they don't quit; they don't give up; I'm very proud," one fan said.

As their hard work is over for now, the younger teammates want to keep the Barren County tradition going.

"We believe, We believe," Barren County cheerleaders said.

And Barren County supporters won't let the Lady Trojans forget how far they've come.

"We're just here supporting our team."

"We're going to have a big party."

And what's expected of next season.

"They're going all the way."

Barren County schools were closed today to give everyone the chance to support the team in the game.
