President Bush met with the commission looking into outpatient care at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The commission is headed by former Republican Sen. Bob Dole and former Health and Human Services Secretary Sonna Shalala.
The president described the commission members as compassionate people who want to make sure the government fulfills its responsibility to wounded troops and veterans.
Bush has vowed to fix any problems the commission might find with the veterans health care system. The president also said the panel's work will set a standard that will extend beyond his presidency.
