Kenneth Calvert has been at the Park Ave Pharmacy in Glasgow, Ky., for 37 years where he has used his compassion and generosity to fill many prescriptions over those years.
"He always stops work and talks to the patients whom come to the counter and talks with them and tells them what to expect out of the medication," said Frank Wade, friend and customer.
Calvert's compassion towards customers doesn't end there, he shows the same kindness to his employees.
"He's just a great boss and that's why everyone has been here so long. You have some employees who have been here with him so long. You have some employees who have been here 30 something years, and of course there's some who have been here 20 something years," employee Ann Duke said.
Calvert goes beyond normal business hours and makes himself available to his customers 24 hours a day.
"He has an emergency telephone line, and they can call and he will come in and fill their prescriptions," Duke said.
Calvert's love for his customers comes across the pharmacy counter right to their heart.
"He's hard to beat, hard to beat his family I think the world of them," Wade said.
Calvert was very shocked to hear he was this week's Hometown Hero.
"I did not think anything like this would ever happen to me," Calvert said. He says if it wasn't for the people, his job wouldn't be the same.
"He deserves it because he never asks for anything back I mean he's just a giving person," Duke said.
"I want to make sure that my customers are taken care of and I will do anything I can to help them," Calvert said.
