As a teacher, you know you've gotten through to a student when they are excited enough to nominate you for an award. That's what happened this week when Franklin Simpson Middle School teacher Mandy Bills received $250 from the Helping your Hometown Partners.

She was nominated by seventh grade student Shelby Carter. Bills says she will use the money to buy more software to go with "Quizdom" a learning tool that allows students to review for tests.

She plans to use any leftover money to buy test tubes, beakers and other items for chemistry.

The Helping your Hometown Partners, Greenview Regional Hospital, Leachman Buick GMC and WBKO will be awarded $250 for the next five weeks.
