On this 150th anniversary of passenger train service between Louisville and Nashville on the L&N Railroad, the museum opened its fully restored postal car L&N Number 1107.

Museum officials say it's an interactive and educational history of postal service that took them more than two years to restore.

"Well this particular car," said museum board member Rick Wilson, "I think the neat thing is just talkin' about the history of how the mail was grabbed on the run, sorted on the run, and then delivered on the run. It's an amazing concept in efficiency the Postal Service had at the time."

Williams says this is one of only two L&N Railroad postal cars still in existence in the world. He says the other one is in Pennsylvania, but this one is on permanent display here in Bowling Green.
