A jury has recommended life in prison without the possibility of parole or probation for a 51-year-old man found guilty of the murder and sodomy of a six-year-old boy in Woodford County.

The jury's recommended sentence came Wednesday in the trial of Lewis "Buck" Ballard.

On Tuesday, he same jury found Ballard guilty of sodomy and murder in the death of Wesley Dylan Mullins.

Defense attorney La Mer Kyle-Griffiths said she plans to appeal the guilty verdict.

Formal sentencing has not been scheduled.
