Body Piercing Law

Updated: Mon 8:15 PM, Mar 29, 2004

On April 1, a new Kentucky law will place restrictions on minors who want to get a tattoo or a body piercing.

Tracy Moser, the owner of the Outer Loop, says minors will have to have notarized parental consent, with an official notary seal to get any kind of body piercing or tattoo.

In addition, the tattoo or body piercing business, and the people performing the procedure, will have to register with the health department. Facilities that only pierce ear lobes will have to obtain a Limited Ear Piercing Certification and Registration.

Moser also says the businesses will be checked to make sure all of the procedures are being followed.
