Daniel Kirkwood’s case was weighing on the minds of members of the community who gathered to remember all victims of child abuse.
Monday, April 2, 2007, more than half a dozen agencies who deal with abused children every day united to proclaim April as Child Abuse Prevention Month.
More than 1,300 children in Warren County were abused over the past year.
Agency leaders say Kirkwood serves as a reminder of how precious children can be.
“He’s suffering. It’s an unfortunate incident, reminds us that tragedies can happen if we aren’t careful with children,” said Will Constable, with CASA.
“Child abuse happens everyday. This is one day we all get together and formally recognize and think about kids suffering from abuse,” said Dawn Long, with B.R.C.A.C..
A blue ribbon campaign for child abuse prevention is underway throughout the month of April.
