A Northern Kentucky native pays the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq.
Family members say 23-year-old Army Specialist Joey Cantrell was killed Wednesday, April 4, 2007, when a bomb he was defusing exploded.
Cantrell was from Westwood, Ky., which is just outside of Louisville.
Cantrell’s mother said the last time she saw her son was during a surprise visit around Valentine’s Day.
Cantrell was one of two soldiers killed in the incident.
