A southern Kentucky jailer who agreed to resign next year has filed a lawsuit claiming the county has already stopped paying his salary.
Barren County Jailer Leland Cox filed the lawsuit this week.
His attorney Steven Thornton says the county has no legal standing to stop paying Cox.
Part of Cox's plea agreement on the misdemeanor charges called for him to officially remain jailer until January 2010 but have no oversight of the operations or contact with employees.
The lawsuit asks the court to immediately restore Cox's wages and benefits.
It also seeks punitive damages.
