A Kentucky couple is mourning the loss of their son, killed in combat in Iraq.
The military said 36-year-old Chief Petty Officer Gregory Billiter was among three sailors killed near Kirkuk on Friday, April 6, 2007.
Billiter’s father said his son had been in the Navy 15 years and was stationed out of Washington State when he was killed.
Governor Fletcher has directed all flags to remain at half-staff in honor of Billiter. They are currently at half-staff in honor of Army Specialist William Bowling, of Beattyville, Ky., and Corporal Joseph Cantrell, of Ashland, Ky.
