An Allen County sheriff’s deputy is recovering after being injured during a high speed chase.
The Allen County Sheriff’s Department said Delmus Carter was injured in Sumner County, Tenn., around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2007.
The sheriff’s office said Carter was attempting to stop a vehicle for speeding in Allen County when the suspect ran the deputy off the road and refused to stop.
The chase continued into Tennessee where Carter struck a pickup turning into a driveway.
Carter was taken to The Medical Center in Bowling Green, where he was released later that night.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said the suspect, 38-year-old Calvin Scott of Adolphus, Ky., lost control of his vehicle during an improper pass moments earlier. He, along with his passenger and the driver of the car he struck were taken to Vanderbilt Hospital.
