WBKO Brings Home 12 AP Awards

If our smiles are a little brighter today, Tuesday, April 10, 2007, it’s because we had a very successful trip to Lexington, to the 2007 Kentucky Associated Press Awards ceremony.

WBKO brought home an even dozen awards, including five first-places!

  • Tamara Evans received first place for Best Light News Feature with her story “Pool Playing Prodigy”
  • Ryan Dearbone received second place for Best Light News Feature with his story “9/11 Dog”
  • Lauren Hanson received an honorable mention for Best Light News Feature with her story “Kentucky Changers”
  • Kyle Edelen received first place for Best Sports Feature with his story “Camera Shy”
  • Amy Bingham received second place for Best Special Series/Documentary with her story “DUI Destroying Lives”
  • WBKO’s News Team received first place for Best Political Coverage with their story “Fight for the Second Congressional District”
  • WBKO’s News Team received second place for Best Continuing Coverage with their story “Bowling Green Officer Shooting”
  • Tamara Evans received second place for Best Spot News with her story “Police Officer Shooting”
  • WBKO’s Staff received second place for Best Newscast with their “WBKO at 6”
  • Justin Manship, Emily Dickerson and Natalie Ward received first place for Best Web Site
  • Shane Holinde received first place for Best TV Weather Anchor
  • Chris Allen received an honorable mention for Best TV Weather Anchor
