In the first of what will become a weekly series local health officials addressed the media and the public Thursday about the ongoing fight against H1N1.

On Thursday, November 12, 2009 at 11:00a.m. The Barren River Area District Health Department hosted its first press conference aimed at updating residents about the virus in our area.

Health officials tell WBKO they've seen dozens of confirmed cases in the district but many more residents possibly have the flu too.

"Our biggest concerns are numbers, but the severity of the cases we're seeing coming into the hospital that wind up hospitalized are worse than we have been seeing since early September," says Rebecca Shadowen, The Medical Center.

The Health Department is currently taking appointments for its next vaccination clinic this Saturday, November 14th.
