KY Prison Population And Costs Up
The report says the average number of inmates increased by almost 42% and annual costs increased by more than 53% from fiscal year 2000 to fiscal year 2009.

A new report says that Kentucky's prison population and costs have risen sharply in the past decade.
The report says the average number of inmates increased by almost 42% and annual costs increased by more than 53% from fiscal year 2000 to fiscal year 2009.
On average the state housed more than 21,000 inmates in 2009 compared to 15,000 in 2000.
Kentucky also spent $294 million to incarcerate prisoners in 2000.
In 2009 the cost was more than $450 million.
