Imus fired

Radio shock jock Don Imus is out of a job as of April 13, 2007. CBS took him off the radio. Still, Imus met with the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team last night, and there are all kinds of repurcussions this morning.

Don Imus' job and reputation are not the only casualties of his offensive comments, New Jersey Governor John Corzine was critically injured in a hit-and-run accident last night, on his way to a private meeting between Imus and the Rutgers' Women's Basketball Team. After Imus left, the Rutgers coach called the three-hour meeting "very productive."

Imus will not be on the radio this morning, now that CBS has fired him. Last week, he used racially loaded words to describe the Rutgers Women's Basketball Team after major sponsors pulled out and MSNBC stopped simulcasting his show. CBS pulled the plug as well.

CBS will not take a large financial hit by losing Imus. The show earned about $20 million a year and reached 1.5 million radio listeners a week. The 66-year-old personality may find another life on satellite radio or working for another network.

Imus may be off the air for now, but his charitable fundraising efforst continue. His radio-thon benefiting children's charities continues. Hosted by this newsman and his wife. On his show yesterday, Imus claimed donations were up.
