Climate adaptation took center stage at this year's Development Marketplace Competition where 26 winners were awarded grants of up to $200,000 to turn their ideas into action over the next two years.
In Ecuador elevated bamboo houses will lift communities in flood zones out of harm's way.
While a project in Nigeria will use airwaves to give farmers the tools they need to deal with climate change.
This year's event went beyond being just a competition.
A spirit of cooperation was created among some finalists who agreed to collaborate following the event.
"It's an underlying shared understanding that we're standing all on the same planet and we need any good idea and every leadership to move forward with practical ideas," said Konrad Von Ritter, World Bank Institute CCP Manager.
The winners are from all over the world with a strong contingent from Latin America and the Caribbean.
