Republicans Continue To Express Opposition Over the Health Care Bill

Republican senators continue to express opposition to a Democratically proposed health care reform bill.

That bill is expected to face its first test Saturday night at a time when the senate is usually on its Thanksgiving Day recess.

Democrats say the bill will extend coverage to 31 million Americans, reduce the federal deficit by $130 billion over the next ten years and will include a public option for thousands who can't meet minimum requirements but Republicans disagree.

"The gimmick they employed was the delays, if you're looking for an analogy it would be something like...paying your mortgage payment four years before you move into a house," says Senator Mitch McConnell, (R) Minority Leader.

Majority Leader Harry Reid has one more day to corral his caucus to find the 60 votes needed for the senate to clear its first key procedural hurdle.
