Federal Money Given to Improve Kentucky Nature Preserve

Governor Steve Beshear announces, a federal grant of $600,000 will be given to make over a nature preserve in Clark County.

The Lower Howard's Creek Nature and Heritage Preserve is where the renovations are expected to take place.

The area, near Boonesborough State park was a center of pioneer industry during Kentucky's settlement era.

The federal funds will be combined with $120,000 from Clark County Fiscal Court to repair and clear2.1 miles of pioneer roads that will be used as foot trails.

The project also involves the reconstruction of 600 yards of stone fences.
