A preacher’s wife accused of shooting her husband to death takes the stand in her own defense.
Mary Winkler said she had asked her husband, Matthew for a divorce, but he wouldn’t consider it.
Testifying in her murder trial, Mary told jurors Matthew was a smart and talented man, but could also be mean in both his actions and words.
A psychologist testified on April 17, 2007, Mary has said her husband often threatened her with a gun and forced her to have sex and watch pornography. However the couple’s nine-year-old daughter said she never saw her father mistreat her mother.
Winkler could face up to 60 years in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.
