A collaboration of agencies dedicated to protecting children, gathered on April 25, 2007, to remind the community of the serious problem of child abuse.
The Cabinet for Health and Family Services and Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky held a news conference at the Family Enrichment Center.
The Family Enrichment Center is one of the earliest affiliates of Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky, an agency focused on preventing the maltreatment of children.
“We need to spend more time with young children and vulnerable families identifying risks and getting involved before child welfare gets involved,” said Dr. Allen Brenzel with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky.
A variety of agencies including Court Appointed Special Advocates, Barren River Child Advocacy Center and the Department of Community Based Services were also on hand.
Warren County Attorney, Amy Milliken was the featured speaker.
During the news conference FEC recognized U.S. Bank for its fundraising involvement, as well as the top money-raising schools for Buckets of Hope.
The Family Enrichment Center is partnering with CASA for a special candlelight vigil in honor of child abuse victims tonight. The Light of Hope service will be held at 8 p.m. at Fountain Square Park.
