From internet pop-ups to NASCAR, advertisements are everywhere. Even one professor is taking his ad idea and running with it.
The Dean of the College of Health and Human Services has become somewhat of a billboard for his mission of raising money for his college. Lucky for him he has just the place to do it.
Advertisers hoping to get attention during the Music City Marathon have paid big bucks to plaster their names on Dr. John Bonaguro’s head.
For example Lin Gate Hospitality forked over $1,000.
“I just tip my head and you can see it,” Bonaguro said.
Others pledged money to be on his shirt. The College of Health and Human Services is relatively new to WKU funds are tight, but the will to raise some isn’t.
“Why don’t I do it on my head? That will go to the highest bidder,” Bonaguro said.
Dr. Bonaguro has been training all winter, starting with a race in Las Vegas where he initially raised $7,000.
His goal to reach $10,000 was achieved with the help of all the local businesses he’ll be wearing during the Music City Marathon.
“This is a once in a lifetime thing. We’re not doing this again, or the year after,” Bonaguro said.
Dr. Bonaguro hopes to run the 13 miles in about two hours, giving himself just enough time to run 10-minute miles.
The College of Health and Human Services will use the money for educational trips.
Perhaps the biggest supporter of his race, Big Red, will be at the Music City Marathon finish line.
