May primary to see record high voter turnout

The Secretary of State's office said a record number of Kentuckians are registered to vote in the May 22 primary election.

A total of almost 2.8 million tops the previous record set in 2004 by more than 28,000 voters. Secretary of State Trey Grayson said he hopes the increase in registrations will encourage voters to turn out on Election Day.

The number of registered Democrats now stands at nearly 1.6 million, while Republicans grew to almost one million-twenty-three-thousand.
