According Edmonson County Sheriff BJ Honeycutt, around 6:30 p.m. on May 4, 2007, 19-year-old Kacey Cornwell of Grayson County fell off the catwalk under the Green River Bridge in Brownsville, Ky., landing in about 10 feet of water.
Honeycutt also said her three friends, two boys and a girl, brought her to shore where Edmonson County EMS and police personnel administered CPR.
The girl was flown to the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky., then taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt.
She was listed in guarded condition.
Honeycutt said she had multiple injuries and that alcohol may be a factor in this incident. He also said all indications so far show that she slipped and fell.
Cornwell passed away Sunday morning at Vanderbilt Hospital.
She had just turned 19 on May 1.
The investigation is ongoing.
