A former northern Kentucky teacher acquitted of having sex with a 16-year-old student is suing the prosecutor who brought the charges.
The Kentucky Enquirer reports Nicole Howell filed the suit Wednesday in federal court in Covington against Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders.
The suit says Sanders lacked probable cause to prosecute Howell.
It also claims that one of Sanders' assistants told Howell's former attorney that she didn't want to be involved in the case but Sanders insisted it go to trial.
Howell was acquitted in October of first-degree sexual abuse.
She is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
