Two units from the 101st Airborne Division have received orders to prepare to deploy to Afghanistan early next year.
This comes one day after the Department of Defense told three other brigades with the 101st to prepare to deploy to Iraq.
The latest announcement involves 4,500 soldiers in the 101st Airborne Division headquarters and the 4th Brigade Combat Team.
The Pentagon said the rotation will keep two combat brigades in Afghanistan and maintain the forces necessary to improve security and stability.
