At the White House on May 10, 2007, President Bush met with House Republicans who expressed deepening concerns about the war.
Several lawmakers said it was a blunt discussion in which they told the president the war was unsustainable without public support. White House spokesman, Tony Snow, wouldn’t discuss details of the meeting.
All this happened as the House of Representatives worked on a new funding bill for the Iraq war. That bill would only fund the war through July and then Congress would decide whether to give more money based on progress. The president has promised a veto.
