Alberto Gonzales was back on Capitol Hill on May 10, 2007, testifying about the firing of eight federal prosecutors.
From the beginning, Gonzales has stuck to his position of “... while the process was not what it should have been, it was not based on improper reasons.”
Today, the attorney general was pushed on who was ultimately behind the decision to fire the U.S. attorneys.
Gonzales again laid blame at his staff and away from the White House.
Democrats still maintain the move amounted to a political purge. President Bush continues to stand behind Gonzales.
