Twenty-four year-old Staff Sergeant Christopher N. Hamlin died in a bomb blast May 4th in Baghdad.
The army awarded Hamlin the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service and the Purple Heart.
Hamlin had received ten other medals during more than six years in the military.
His service included three tours of duty in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.
Hamlin was buried in East Bernstadt on Saturday after a funeral in his hometown of London.
Hamlin is the 56th Kentuckian to be killed in the war in Iraq.
