Republican and Democratic candidates for Kentucky governor are showcasing their families in an effort to woo voters in a crowded primary.

In his stump speeches, Governor Ernie Fletcher talks about marrying his high school sweetheart and reading bedtime stories to his grandchildren.

Democrat Steve Henry features his wife, a former Miss America, and his daughters in TV ads.

Political experts say the images of candidates' families resonate with a core group of voters, those who want to see a traditional family model.

In one of Republican Anne Northup's political ads, she walks across shaded grass with her husband and children.

Out of the three Republicans and six Democrats in the governor's race, only one isn't married. That's Democratic candidate Bruce Lunsford, a divorcee. His ads feature his three daughters.

The primary is May 22nd.
