Census Bureau Reports Say Diversity is on the Rise

On the heels of immigration reform, new Census Bureau data released on May 17, 2007, shows America is becoming more diverse.

The data shows the minority population is now at 100.7 million which is up from 98.3 million from a year earlier. This means one out of every three residents is a minority.

Hispanics are the largest and fastest-growing minority with a population of 44 million.

The African-American population follows with 40 million and the Asian population with almost 15 million.

Figures also released today showed there are 37 million people 65 and older, and more than 188 million working-age adults ages 18-to-64.
