After four years of fighting, countless court appearances and thousands of dollars in legal fees, the Beech Bend Road controversy is finally over.
The two principal combatants, Beech Bend owner Dallas Jones and attorney Matt Baker, dotted the i’s and crossed the t’s with Baker selling his ten-plus acres of property to Jones on May 18, 2007.
Jones wouldn’t say how much he paid for the land, but he’s glad the feud is finally over.
“Well I’m extremely happy that it’s all over and I think Matt and I have both agreed that we’re both happy that it’s over and we can go on with our lives,” Jones said.
Baker would only say the agreement is to the mutual satisfaction of both parties, but it prevents him from talking about it. He did say it’s now time to move on to other things.
The battle began in June 2003, when Baker contended the road leading back to Jones’ Beech Bend Park was his private drive.
There followed numerous lawsuits going all the way to the Kentucky Supreme Court. Friday’s land sale ends the four-year-long fight with Beech Bend buying the controversial property.
