This weekend usually marks the start of the summer tourist season at Lake Cumberland, but repairs at nearby Wolf Creek Dam have slowed down the normally high traffic the lake usually sees.
Safety concerns about the dam have caused many vacationers to stay at home.
Tourism spending is down 63 percent, but there's still some optimism for the rest of the summer.
"Lake Cumberland draws more tourists than Grand Canyon. This year should be no different than any other", says Bill Jasper, the President of the State Dock Marina.
The state has provided funds for all boat launch ramps around Lake Cumberland to be extended.
Officials say they don't anticipate having to lower the lake's water level again.
