Seven Nato soldiers, five of them Americans, were killed when a U.S. Army Chinook helicopter was shot down in Southern Afghanistan.
The chopper was apparently hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.
It’s being said that when a Nato patrol responded to the crash in humvees, it was ambushed by enemy fighters.
An air strike was called in to eliminate that threat. The site of the crash has now been secured.
A Taliban claim of responsibility hasn’t been confirmed. The incident is eerily similar to a helicopter incident and ground attack in Iraq just this past Monday, May 28, 2007.
