Officials will dedicate a new cemetery for veterans tomorrow near Ft. Knox.
The Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central will sit on 98 acres and likely be the final resting place for most Louisville-area veterans and their families.
The new space comes at a time when four of Kentucky’s seven national cemeteries are full.
There are two in Louisville, one in Lexington and a fourth in Danville.
Kentucky has about 360,000 living veterans.
The National Cemetery Administration has mandated most veterans should live within 75 miles of a veteran’s cemetery by 2012.
