For countless couples achieving pregnancy isn’t easy, but now a new at-home fertility test could enable you to test for key elements of both male and female fertility without a costly visit to the doctor.
Fertility issues are believed to affect one in seven couples in the United States, including Alba and Julio Garcia.
A year passed and I started getting like, ‘something’s wrong here,’ Alba exclaimed.
They tried to get pregnant for a whole year, but now couples can find out if they have fertility problems in a matter of minutes, with a new at home fertility screening test - the first to look at both a man and a woman’s fertility.
Fertell’s kit includes a female test that can actually find a problem, detecting a hormone level measuring egg production. It’s conducted much like an at home pregnancy test and can be read in 30 minutes.
“The test that we do in our office - that’s actually in this kit - it’s the first test we look for when a woman comes for an evaluation. The male test in the kit - with results available in 80 minutes - measures the concentration of moving sperm, a key indicator of sperm health,” explained Dr. Harry Fisch, with the Columbia University Medical Center.
But the couples test won’t catch every fertility problem. This test is not a guarantee that you’re fertile or not, but it’s a great start.
The Garcias finally sought help from a fertility specialist and now they have a brand new baby girl, but for them this test would have been a godsend.
“It would’ve saved me a year of not knowing we had a problem,” Alba explained.
Fertell is now available in the United States on the web and at select pharmacies. For more information go to their website at www.fertell.com.
