The mayor of Mount Vernon, Kentucky was arrested after a grand jury indicted her on charges of abuse of public trust, bribery of a public servant, insurance fraud, and official misconduct.

WKYT-TV reports Clarice Kirby has been under investigation by State Police since June.

Officials say Kirby is suspected of buying alcohol for work release inmates and taking them to Richmond to drink.

Among other accusations against the mayor, she was also arrested last year in a misdemeanor dispute over the destruction of a rock wall.
