Edmonson County has become the first county in the Barren River Region to be declared a "Storm Ready Community."
Norm Reitmeyer with the National Weather Service was on hand for a special ceremony to make the declaration.
Reitmeyer says this isn't something that happened overnight, but the county is now completely equipped to handle severe weather.
Weather radios have been placed in public buildings and pamphlets have been distributed throughout the county.
Leadership Edmonson County made this their project and helped make it a reality.
