You would think recent heavy rains would discourage people from wanting to swim. That certainly wasn't the case for people at Russell Sims Aquatic Center. Many came out Friday for the opening of the park, with half price admission.

Brandon Goins, the pool manager at the center says, "I think the storms kind of kept some people away, but it's picking up and we're having a good time so far."

Once this storm season passes, the aquatic center expects an enormous amount of people throughout the summer. The park has made several renovations, and is receiving new equipment.

Admission Prices are as follows:

Senior Citizens (55yrs & up) $5.00
Adults (18 and up) $8.00
College Students (with ID) $6.00
Youth (6-17yrs) $5.00
Children (2-5 yrs) $3.00
Infants (under 2 yrs) $1.00
