115 students from Greenwood High's marching band, accompanied by 100 parents and grandparents, went to the nation's capitol for the Memorial Day celebrations.
The band was one of a few nationwide, hand picked to play in the Memorial Day Parade, honoring the World War II veterans.
The students also got a chance to attend the ceremony, dedicating the new WWII veteran's memorial, as well as see the sights, like the White House, and Lincoln's Monument.
They say they could not have done it though, without community support. Band Director Brian Morrison says the community donated tens of thousands of dollars, covering 2/3 of the student's trip costs.
