Child Sex Offender Gets 35 Years

Tempers flare in a Warren Circuit courtroom when a Bowling Green man is sentenced on numerous sex offenses involving a young girl.

Two months ago Samuel Sturm pleaded guilty to 56 counts of using a minor less than 16 years old in a sexual performance. He's also charged with sodomy and complicity to sodomy.

His wife, Tracy, faces the same charges, which took place from June 4 to July 22, 2006.

At Sturm's sentencing, a heated exchange erupted when Sturm's attorney told Judge Steve Wilson tests had shown Sturm was a "low risk" to re-offend.

Because Sturm is a Persistent Felony Offender, his 20-year sentence was enhanced to 35 years. He will not be eligible for parole for 20 years, at which time Judge Wilson said this tape of Sturm's behavior in court will be played for the parole board.
