A teen was severely injured on an amusement park ride in Louisville, Ky., on June 21, 2007.
It happened at the Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom - according to the witness reports, a cable broke loose on the Superman Tower of Power and severed the legs, above the ankles, of a 13-year-old girl.
“First it was going up and I didn’t see the cable first and I heard like a lot of people screaming. I thought it was just cause they’re scared. I seen the cable and it came down - then a lot of people were screaming and I seen the cable hitting a lot of people and then i just started crying,” witness, Chris Stinnett said.
The young girl was transported to a local hospital. So far there’s no word of her condition.
The ride takes passengers straight up 177 feet, then free falls for about 154 feet. It can travel up to 54 miles-per-hour. The ride has been shut down. The accident is under investigation.
