A medical examiner has confirmed that a body found in an Ohio park yesterday is that of a missing pregnant woman.
The medical examiner has not determined how Jessie Davis died. The Summit County medical examiner's office has said it might be difficult to pinpoint because of the advanced state of decomposition.
“We have placed Bobby Cutts under arrest and he is in custody of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office,” informed Chief Deputy Rick Perez, with the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.
Bobby Cutts Jr. was Jessie Davis’ ex-boyfriend. They had a 2-year-old son together and authorities believe he was the father of Davis’ unborn child, but he’s also a Canton Police officer. He is now taken into custody by his own colleagues and charged with two counts of murder. Cutts, who is married and has children with two other women, has claimed he’s innocent.
Investigators are still trying to piece together the events leading to Davis’ death. The FBI is examining surveillance video showing Cutts inside this sports bar on the same night it’s believed Davis vanished.
Sheriff’s deputies made a second arrest June 24, 2007, charging 29-year-old Myisha Lynne Ferrell, a friend of Cutts, with obstruction of justice after a weekend search of her apartment.
“While they were here, the sheriffs were specifically asking about the comforter they found in my laundry in my basement. It was my comforter and all,” neighbor, Justin Lindstrom said. Lindstrom lives above Ferrell’s apartment.
Authorities recovered Davis’ body after a 10-day intensive search involving thousands of volunteers.
On June 24, well-wishers remembering Jessie placed a memorial at the steps of her home.
Both Cutts and Ferrell are scheduled to appear in court on June 25.
