Power Outages after Saturday Rain

Many welcomed the rain on Saturday, but few expected what came with it.

Severe weather conditions caused power outages across town causing traffic tie-ups and a loss of power in nearly 8,000 homes in the region.

Bowling Green Municipal Utilities reported around 4:15 Saturday afternoon that strong winds knocked down a tree, which in turn knocked down a distribution line that fed power from three substations.

In all, 7,000 homes were left powerless. BGMU is currently reporting that power has been restored to all its customers.

Warren Rural Electric also experienced power outages, primarily in Butler and Ohio counties.

Approximately 1,000 customers lost power due to a combination of lightning and strong winds.

Crews worked throughout the night on Saturday to restore power to homes.
