London Bomb Thwarted

A car packed with fuel and nails outside a nightclub in the heart of London could have caused a considerable loss of life.

The device was discovered early this morning in Picadilly Circus when an ambulance crew noticed the car was smoking and alerted the bomb squad.

London’s Metropolitan Police said it is too early to speculate who is behind the car bomb and what the target might have been.

The incident comes about a week before the second anniversary of the July 7, 2005, attacks on London’s transportation system.

Four Islamic extremist suicide bombers killed 52 people.

Police said had the bomb gone off, it would have led to a significant loss of life, because many people were leaving nightclubs at that hour.
