Area residents speak out about the impending closure of the Smiths Grove Library.
Mayor Steve Watt, Magistrate Tommy Hunt and staff from the Bowling Green Library were all at the meeting on July 2, 2007.
As plans change with the Bowling Green Library system, many patrons remain steadfast in their efforts to keep the small library open.
Smiths Grove resident Bob Rankin said it’s a real pleasure to have a library nearby and it’s one of the reasons he and his wife moved to the area. He realizes the change is imminent, but is hopeful it will be a positive one.
“We need to be able to have some kind of plan ready to expand our services to serve all all citizens. Yes, I want to see the Smith’s Grove library to stay open, but I think we need to move forward in the future with Warren County,” Rankin said.
Currently the Smiths Grove Library is set to close September 1.
