A 14-year-old Florida boy dies following an accident on Lake Cumberland.
It happened at about 2 p.m. on July 2, 2007, near the Jamestown marina on Lake Cumberland.
Witnesses said the boy was jet-skiing alongside a friend when they started jumping waves behind a boat. One of the jet skis then landed on the other and sent the teen into the water. A couple saw what happened and pulled the injured boy into a boat.
Officials said the couple attempted CPR, but the teen could not be revived.
“When the boat came in it was just flying, so a boat doesn’t come in the wake zone like that so we automatically knew it was something bad,”
The victim was airlifted to Russell County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police are not releasing the name of the teen at this time. No charges have been filed pending further investigation.
